Tim Holtz May tag 2013

This has been a busy, busy month. I defended my doctoral thesis last Friday and can finally call myself a doctor! Everything went well and we had a nice celebration dinner in the evening. I'm just so relieved that it is over. My Mac actually broke down the day after my dissertation, and it turned out that fixing it would cost me almost as much as buying a new one. So here I am, writing my first blog post on my brand new Mac. I actually didn't think I would be making the May tag this month, but today I finally found the time and inspiration, and here it is. Since I love steampunk, I chose a steampunk color palette.

Distress stains: Vintage photo, tea dye, peacock feathers, evergreen bough, broken china, tarnished brass
Distress ink: Walnut stain

Wryn Spring Card

Made this card using some old papers and an image of Wryn from Tiddly Inks. I have tons of Wryn digital stamps, she is so cute and really reminds me of one of my nieces <3. I'm participating in the following challenges: Tiddly Inks - Use a WrynCopic Marker Norge utfordring #38 and Sketchy Colors #164. I'm also posting it in the Flying Unicorn's Stash Challenge.

I colored the image during Easter and forgot to write down which Copics I used, just remember which I used for the skin and the dress...

Bo Bunny May Layout Challenge

Bo Bunny's May layout challenge is "Use a book title in your layout". I used the title "Where the wild things are".

Papers are from the Bo Bunny Zoology collection. I am not a big fan of zoos, but I am a big fan of wildlife and these papers are brilliant for that as well. I love the muted colors of this collection. I'm dreaming about going on an African Safari and have kind of been saving this collection for that purpose. However, the safari hasn't happened yet, and I couldn't resist to use some of the papers for my trip to the Amazonas rainforest two years ago (yes, I'm a little behind on my scrapbooking...). I love the rainforest! All the sounds, the smells, the greenery, the humid air, the animals - it's magic!
